A huge congratulations to all my students on their outstanding results. It just shows that with the right approach, positivity and determination, alongside some useful techniques, you really can achieve anything. It's also good to bear in mind in this results-orientated society that it's the getting there that's important - much moreso than the grade itself. So while you were working towards your desired grade, you showed commitment, a sense of challenge, and a sense of control over your future - what us psychologists call 'hardiness' skills, and it's these skills that help you fight stress and stay healthy - mentally and physically. So whatever the grades, by working hard for what you wanted, and staying focused and committed in spite of the inevitable obstacles, you performed perfectly! :)
Just a quick shout to all students everywhere to say I'm thinking of you as the big 'R' days approach for A Level and then GCSE. Many of you will have worked very hard to gain the results you need and you deserve success, whatever that might mean for you. Remember that (quoting from the programme, 'Friday Night Lights') if you can look at yourself in the mirror and those who love you and say with an open heart that you did your very best, then you were Perfect, and you don't need an A Grade to tell you that! :) This may not make much sense to you at this age, and others might try to tell you otherwise, but try and hold on to this thought for the future.
For those who feel they might not have put in the work they could have done, remember that there are reasons for this, and if you take time to understand them, by being honest and not judging yourself, you can use this experience to help you make changes.
If any of you are disappointed with your results, or just which to become more confident in English or Psychology for the new school year, I have various Holiday Workshops going on this summer, for a variety of ages from Primary through to A Level, where you will be able to improve your skills in just one day! Check out the Holiday Workshops page on this website to see what's going on.
Wishing you all the very best,
